Ensemble Eclectica! has always done things big.
The 15-piece musical ensemble, led by Maestra Suzanna Pavlovsky, was created in 2015 with the goal of bridging multiple artistic disciplines and spotlighting local performers. Its upcoming August 27 production, “What A Wonderful World,” does just that.
Ensemble Eclectica is an interdisciplinary artistic non-profit organization that brings together a 15-piece orchestra, live dance, visual arts, and media for an energetic performance. Led by artistic director, Suzanna Pavlovsky, the third annual Ensemble Eclectica’s production, “Around The World in 80 Minutes!” was held August 29 at The Hall on Senate Street.
The sold-out performance entitled "We Could Have Danced All Night” took its audience through a unique experience of a simultaneously performed mixed-media production. The orchestra played while dancers danced and visual artists painted…“We Could Have Danced All Night” also took its audience on an international musical tour. Music representing France, Venezuela, Mexico, the United States, and Spain was performed by the Ensemble Eclectica orchestra.
Ensemble Eclectica doesn’t dig boundaries. Take the 15-piece ensemble’s upcoming concert, We Could Have Danced All Night. During the display, 15 ballroom dancers will swirl around the floor, accompanied by both new and old classical compositions, arranged and in some cases composed, by local musicians.
Summer breaks from regular obligations allowed a broadly-talented local troupe of top-tier musicians time to compose new works, re-arrange beloved compositions and ready themselves to introduce Columbia and the Midlands to a brand new cultural experience...Musicians who are part of this new cultural initiative expressed excitement about the potential to introduce the capital city to a new way of experiencing music.
The most anticipated award, at least for the nonprofits themselves, was the "Best Outdoor" award, which comes with a spot on a digital billboard at Assembly and Gervais streets. Diana Stevenson, CEO of Grace Outdoor, presented their award to Suzanna Pavlovsky, creator of Ensemble Eclectica.
